New PSC ruling on Electric Sub Metering
Posted by chaocblog under Home Improvement, Maintenance, Utilities1 Comment
The PSC approved new requirements to protect tenants in electrically heated multi-family buildings that are to be submetered. Under the new requirements, building owners must invest in energy efficiency measures to achieve savings of 20%, must install accessible meters, must provide tenants with information on energy conservation and must adhere to certain provisions/protections under the Home Energy Fair Practices Act (HEFPA).

Sad news traveled fast yesterday when I learned that a beloved neighbor, friend, family and to some, tennis coach, Ivory Manor (bldg 355) passed away this week due to an unfortunate case of pneumonia. Additionally, a few of the residents have expressed an interest in coordinating support for his family. Please let me know if you would like to be included.

We have a lovely CHAOC resident, Florence, who helps continuously to bring our community together through various sidewalk and street festival events. The next one is tomorrow on Hall St, between Dekalb & Willoughby.
Unfortunately its too late to sign up to have a table, but its not too late to go browse the goods! The event is rain or shine, so even if it does rain (as predicted tomorrow), bust out the umbrella and maybe you can score a rainy day deal!
If you wanted a table but missed it this time, the annual fall Giant Neighborhood Sidewalk Sale is Oct 10 & 17. To sign up for a space, call Florence @ 718-636-9263

I have to wonder if the recent spree of robberies in our co-ops is aligned with the limping economy. With the attack around Pratt in August, the fist fight in the courtyard last week, and a number of break-ins, it is not without justification that I’m researching alternative security options for my home and along neighborhood walks.
I’m looking for new and updated statistics on crime in the neighborhood, and specifically in our co-ops. Have you or someone you know had your apartment burglarized?
